You don't need all the answers. You just need somewhere to start.
The families we work with usually come to us with one of these feelings. If any of these land, you're in the right place.
-
You've raised it with teachers, GPs, even other parents. You just want clarity — and a plan.
-
You have a label, but not a roadmap. You want to understand what this means for your child day-to-day.
-
You need documentation your school will actually use — not a report that sits in a drawer.
-
Getting dressed. Mealtimes. Homework. Friendships. You want strategies that work at home, not just in a clinic.
-
We get it. That's why we always start with assessment — so therapy is targeted, evidence-based, and time-efficient.
-
Our experienced team works with complexity every day. If things haven't fitted before, we'd love to hear why.
Meet · Know · Grow
Before therapy begins, we assess. Assessment is how we understand your child — their strengths, their challenges, and what's actually going on beneath the surface. It's what makes therapy meaningful rather than generic.
We offer three assessment packages. They differ in depth, not quality. Your therapist will recommend the right fit after your intake form is reviewed and your first session — but these options give you a clear picture of what's possible.
All three packages include goal-setting with you, an assessment session with your child, verbal feedback, and a written summary.
The difference is in how far we go — and how much detail you receive.

What comes after assessment?
Assessment and therapy are two separate things — and that's intentional. Assessment gives us the picture. Therapy is what we build from it.
For most children, therapy follows assessment. Your therapist will talk through what that looks like for your child; the frequency, format, and how long they'd expect to see meaningful progress before you commit to anything..
Ongoing therapy with Kids + Co.Lab — Therapy sessions are booked separately after your assessment is complete. We recommend a minimum of 10 sessions to see real progress toward most goals — though frequency and duration vary by child and family.
Sessions are $200 per session (45 min F2F + therapist notes)

Built into every therapy block
Optional extras
Some children benefit from being observed or supported in their natural environment — at home, at school, or in the community. These can be added to any package.
Community observation
We observe your child in a real-world setting — playground, classroom, or home — to see how they're actually going in context.
Travel to you
If we come to your home, school, or community setting, a flat travel fee applies. Your therapist will confirm this at booking.
Additional assessment tools
If your child's assessment requires more than two standardised tools, each additional tool is charged at a flat materials rate.
GP referral letter
If you have a Medicare referral, we send a brief clinical summary back to your GP after assessment. No extra charge.
We're not a high volume clinic.
We work with a small, carefully chosen caseload of children many with complex, overlapping needs.
That means your child gets a therapist who genuinely knows them, not whoever's next available.
-
Our team are experienced clinicians, not new graduates. You're getting hard-won expertise — especially relevant for children with complex presentations.
-
We never start therapy blind. Assessment is how we understand your child properly — and it's what makes the therapy that follows actually work.
-
You're the expert on your child. We're the experts in child development. We work together — and we'll never push you toward something that doesn't feel right.
-
We explain everything in plain language. You'll never walk away from a session unsure of what was decided, why, or what comes next.
-
We work with families across Queensland and nationally via Telehealth — with in-person sessions available on the Sunshine Coast.
-
Everything is upfront. No hidden fees, no surprise bills. We tell you exactly what each session or package costs before you commit.
FAQs
-
In most cases, yes — and we think you'll be glad you did. Assessment helps us understand your child properly so therapy is targeted, not generic. Occasionally, if one goal is very clear, your therapist may complete a brief observation in your first session and begin therapy from there.
-
That's completely okay, and it happens. If during assessment we discover your child needs more depth than originally planned, your therapist will speak with you first — explain what they've found, what they recommend, and what any cost difference looks like — before anything changes. You're always in control.
-
Absolutely. Many families choose the Know or Grow package to get a clear clinical picture — to share with a school, support a funding application, or simply to understand their child better — without committing to ongoing therapy. The report is yours to use however you need it.
-
Once your enquiry is in, our admin team will let you know our current wait times. If you're waiting, you're already in the queue. We don't forget about you — and we'll send you information to help you prepare while you wait.
-
Our prices reflect the full time your therapist invests in your child — not just the hours you're in the room together. Preparation, assessment scoring, clinical reasoning, and report writing all happen between sessions. Our team are experienced clinicians, and we believe that experience matters — especially for children with complex needs.
-
Of course. Some families come to us purely for assessment — to get a clinical picture, a report, or a better understanding of their child. That's a completely valid reason to work with us. Your therapist will give you honest recommendations, and the decision about next steps is always yours.
Using Medicare
If your GP has provided a referral under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (GPMP or TCA), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on some of your sessions.
No GP referral is required to access our services — you can self-refer directly. A referral does, however, allow you to access Medicare rebates for eligible sessions.
What you need to know:
Medicare rebates apply to sessions where your child is present — including your initial goal-setting session and assessment sessions with your child.
Non-contact time (preparation, report writing, scoring) and parent-only sessions are charged at our standard private fee.
A standard referral covers up to 5 sessions. This usually covers your initial assessment — but it's unlikely to complete a full therapy journey.
Your therapist will be upfront about this so you can plan ahead financially.
We always let you know before a session whether it attracts a rebate. No surprises.
